STEP 1: After the Purchase

After you sign your purchase agreement, you’ll need to schedule your design appointment. Expect to spend several hours with one of our talented design team members, who will walk you through all the available finishes. You’ll also get an opportunity to meet with one of our low-voltage professionals to discuss your technology needs. Before your design appointment, we highly recommend attending a complementary Design Preview Session. This will acquaint you with the many opportunities that are available for you to truly personalize your new home and give you a better idea of option pricing.

STEP 2: Pre-Construction Meeting

This meeting is designed to introduce the Construction Manager to the Homebuyer and review all pertinent information related to the construction of the home.  This meeting will be scheduled by a McKinley Homes Team member and will take place at the home site. The Pre-Construction meeting is required for all Homebuyers to ensure all information, including Design Selections, Site Plans, and Blueprints, has been reviewed by both the Homebuyer and the Construction Manager.  The Construction Manager will explain the overall construction process and set expectations for what to expect while the home is under construction.

STEP 3: Pre-Drywall Meeting

This meeting is designed to allow homebuyers the opportunity to review all the mechanical systems and framing components of the home before being covered by drywall.  This meeting will be scheduled by a McKinley Homes Team member and will take place at the home site. At this meeting, the Construction Manager will explain the workings of the mechanical systems, review all design selections, and set expectations of what to expect from drywall to the finish stages of the home. Although this meeting is not required, it is highly recommended for Homebuyers to take advantage of this very informative meeting.

STEP 4: New Home Orientation and Closing Letter

You will receive a closing letter via e-mail approximately 30 days before your closing, confirming the date of your New Home Orientation and final closing.  The New Home Orientation is a mandatory meeting that takes place approximately 7 days before closing.  At this meeting, your Construction Manager will demonstrate all your home’s features to ensure the condition of the home is 100% and review the home’s maintenance requirements. If any corrections are required, the items will be noted on the orientation form to be completed and inspected prior to your closing.

STEP 5: Final Walk Through, Closing, and Introduction to Customer Service

You will meet your Construction Manager on the day of or the day before your closing to confirm any items noted on the orientation form have been completed. Additionally, you will be given instructions on the key turn-over and lock-out process. Once these items have been completed, you will be asked to sign the orientation form.  Once this form is signed, you are clear to close.
